According to the letter, which is posted on the International Fund for Animal Welfare’s website, IFAW.org, Hawaii is the third largest state market in the U.S. for wildlife products, after New York and California, and may soon be #1 since the other two states already have passed laws banning the sale of ivory and rhino horns.

The message also maintains that banning sales of goods made from wild animals could curb the activities of poachers as the markets for the products dwindle. The letter directs people to support the legislation by signing an online petition at HawaiiSavesWildlife.org.

Among the other celebs who have signed the letter are Willie NelsonPearl Jam‘s Eddie VedderNickelback‘s Michael KroegerWoody Harrelson and Pierce Brosnan.
