Credit: Danny O’ConnorTodd Rundgren will launch a month-long spring solo tour next month that will take him across the U.S. The trek, which is the latest installment of the eclectic singer/songwriter’s “An Evening with Todd Rundgren” outing, gets underway on April 27 in Napa, California, and winds down with a May 29-30 engagement at Daryl’s House, the venue owned by Daryl Hall in Pawling, New York.
The tour also will stop in a number of major cities, including Vancouver, Canada; Pasadena, California; Las Vegas; Phoenix; Austin, Texas; Brooklyn, New York; and Newark, New Jersey. At his shows, Rundgren will be playing a selection of fan favorites with a backing band that includes such longtime collaborators as bassist Kasim Sulton and drummer Prairie Prince.
Rundgren’s concert in Newark will include opening act The Tubes, whose lineup also features Prince.
After the tour wraps up, Rundgren will rejoin Ringo Starr‘s All Starr Band for that group’s upcoming trek, which kicks off June 3 in Syracuse, New York and runs into early July. Todd also has a one-off show in Los Angeles on August 20 and, as previously reported, he will host the latest edition of his summer fan camp in Stowe, Vermont, from August 22 to August 26. The event, dubbed Todd Rundgren’s TyRolean Getaway, will be held at the Trapp Family Lodge, the resort established and run by the family whose story inspired The Sound of Music.
In other news, Rundgren recently released The Complete Bearsville Albums Collection, a 13-CD box set that gathers together the 11 solo studio albums Todd issued on the Bearsville Records label from 1970 to 1982.
