Duran Duran Announces Album Title, Adds Tour Dates

Credit: Stephanie PistelDuran Duran‘s forthcoming album has officially been given a name.  The album will be called Paper Gods, the group tweeted. The album is expected in September although no specific release date has been announced.

Back in March, drummer Roger Taylor told ABC Radio that fans should expect something grand from Paper Gods, Duran Duran’s 14th studio album.  “We’ve been working on it for two years and it’s a real epic, actually: it’s going to be an epic record,” he said.  “It’s a real broad sound that we have on this record.”

The band worked on the album with the likes of “Uptown Funk” hit maker Mark Ronson; singer Janelle Monae, who appears on the album’s lead single “Pressure Off”; and Chic mastermind Nile Rodgers, who worked with Duran Duran on their smash 1984 hits “The Wild Boys” and “The Reflex,” as well as on their 1986 album Notorious.

Speaking of Nile, Duran Duran also announced that they would be playing his newly announced FOLD Festival in Riverhead, New York. FOLD stands for Freak Out! Lets Dance.  The plan for the festival is to have Nile and Chic perform together with the various other star acts on the bill.  The band has also added other new tour dates in the U.S. and U.K. to its upcoming schedule. Tickets for Duran Duran’s U.S. tour dates go on sale to the general public on June 20 with the exception of tickets for the Hollywood Bowl and Greek Theatre shows which go on sale June 27.
