Bob Seger Wins Performance of the Year Honor at CMT Music Awards

Clay Patrick McBrideCongratulations to Bob Seger, who with country star Jason Aldean was honored with the CMT Performance of the Year trophy at the 2015 CMT Music Awards, held Wednesday night in Nashville.

Seger and Aldean won the award for their duet of Bob’s classic tune “Turn the Page,” which was featured on a 2014 episode of the CMT Crossroads series.  The CMT Performance of the Year honor recognizes artists who have given an outstanding musical performance on one of the network’s television shows, series or variety specials.

Seger did not attend the ceremony, but Aldean was on hand to pick up the prize, and gave props the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer during his acceptance speech.

“Thanks to Bob Seger for just being a badass,” Jason declared.  “This is really cool ’cause this is a song that I played in the clubs for years, and to get a chance to perform this with him onstage, I mean, this was a dream come true for me.  So Bob Seger, thank you very much.”

Meanwhile, Aerosmith‘s Steven Tyler, who’s been working on a solo country album in Nashville, appeared in a humorous segment with country legend Alan Jackson.  In the clip, Tyler was driving Jackson in an Uber-style car service, called Guuber, and the two belted out a rendition of Alan’s hit “Don’t Rock the Jukebox,” followed by a little bit of Aerosmith’s “Walk This Way.”

The evening’s big winner was Carrie Underwood, who took home three trophies, including her sixth Video of the Year prize.

Incidentally, the Van Halen performance that David Lee Roth recently told ABC Radio was supposed to take place on the awards show didn’t happen.
