
Courtesy of TJL ProductionsTwo new installments of PBS’ My Music performance series are scheduled to premiere this weekend on stations across the U.S. The first show, My Music: This Land Is Your Land, focuses on popular folk artists of the 1960s, while the second, My Music: Favorite Love Songs, features a variety of pop stars from the ’60s, ’70s and early ’80s singing some of their romantic-themed hits.
This Land Is Your Land is hosted by Judy Collins and The Smothers Brothers, and includes performances by Collins, The Byrds‘ Roger McGuinn, Barry McGuire, The Kingston Trio, The Limeliters, The Highwaymen and The Brothers Four. Among the program’s highlights are Collins’ singing her memorable cover of Joni Mitchell‘s “Both Sides Now,” McGuinn performing the Byrds hits “Mr. Tambourine Man” and “Turn, Turn, Turn” and McGuire belting his chart-topping protest anthem “Eve of Destruction.
Favorite Love Songs is hosted by All My Children star Susan Lucci, and includes archival performances by Dionne Warwick, Elton John, Olivia Newton-John, Diana Ross, Chicago, Bread, The Captain & Tennille, Kenny Rogers and other stars. Among the tunes featured in the show are Warwick’s “I’ll Never Love This Way Again,” John’s “Your Song,” Newton-John’s “I Honestly Love You,” Ross’ “Do You Know Where You’re Going To” and Chicago’s “If You Leave Me Now.”
