Courtesy of Middlesex UniversityWho frontman Roger Daltrey has received an honorary degree from the U.K.'s Middlesex University. The revered rock singer was acknowledged for his achievements in music and acting at a ceremony held Tuesday at the London school in conjunction with the university's graduation celebrations. A number of graduating Middlesex students collaborated with Daltrey last year on designing visuals used during the rocker's solo Tommy tour.
During the festivities, Daltrey said, "If I had the power to give honors, the students would be getting extra honorary degrees from me. After having the privilege of working with them on my production of The Who's Tommy, I was amazed with their vision and creativity."
He added, "I look forward to seeing more of their work, knowing that within the visual creative industries, the future is a bright one. For me to receive this degree is an honor indeed."
Also during the ceremony, the school's vice chancellor, Michael Driscoll, praised Daltrey as "one of the greatest musicians Britain has produced," while noting, "He has been successful at everything he has turned his hand to."
