Henry Diltz/Elektra RecordsJim Morrison was born on December 8, 1943, and VH1 Classic is marking the late Doors frontman's birthday by airing a variety of shows focusing on his famous band all day long on Saturday. Among the highlights of the music channel's "The Doors Day" programming will be the TV premiere of the group's recently released concert video, Live at the Bowl '68.
The film, which features restored and previously unreleased footage from The Doors' historic July 1968 concert at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, will debut at 8 p.m. ET, according to the band's official Facebook page. An encore showing will air at 11:30 p.m. ET.
Other programs slated to be broadcast on Saturday include the Classic Albums documentary on the making of The Doors' self-titled first album, director Oliver Stone's 1991 dramatic film The Doors and the No One Here Gets Out Alive documentary. VH1 Classic's "The Doors Day" gets under way at 11 a.m. ET/10 a.m. CT.
