CBS Photography 1964A series of four sketches Paul McCartney scrawled during the 1960s are among the many collectibles going up for bid this Saturday in Liverpool, U.K., at the 2015 edition of the city’s annual Beatles Memorabilia Auction. The drawings, done on white scrap paper, feature faces of various Beatles members and include quirky messages on the opposite side.

The sketches are estimated to sell for as much as 10,000 pounds — or more than $15,000 — combined.  More than 300 other lots also will go under the hammer at the auction, which will be held at the Paul McCartney Auditorium at The Liverpool Institute for the Performing Arts.  The facility opened in 1996 and was co-founded by Sir Paul in the building that housed his old school.

Among the other interesting pieces of memorabilia that will be auctioned are a variety of autographed singles, albums, photos and documents signed by Beatles members; a piece of the original Cavern Club stage; a 1955 John Lennon detention sheet from Liverpool’s Quarry Bank High School; and handbills from a number of early Fab Four concerts.

For more details about the sale, visit BeatlesAuction.co.uk.  The auction is being held in conjunction with Liverpool’s annual International Beatleweek celebration, which runs through this Monday, September 1.  The lineup of artists and Beatles-related celebs scheduled to appear at the festival include Donovan, Badfinger‘s Joey Molland, one-time Wings member Denny Seiwell, former Lennon flame May Pang, George Harrison‘s ex-wife Pattie Boyd and photographer Bob Gruen.  Plenty of details about the fest have been posted at LiverpoolEcho.co.uk.
