Credit: Simon CrossSome new information has been announced about the upcoming HBO series that Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger is executive producing with acclaimed director Martin Scorsese. According to HBO.com, the show is titled Vinyl and will premiere on the cable network sometime in 2016.
As previously reported, the series focuses on the sex-and-drug-fueled music business in 1970s New York City as punk rock and disco were emerging. Jagger’s son James will be featured as Kip Stevens, the frontman of a fictional early punk band named The Nasty Bits. Bobby Cannavale will portray the show’s main character, Richie Finestra, a record label president struggling to keep his company afloat while navigating complicated personal relationships. Vinyl also stars Olivia Wilde, Ray Romano and Juno Temple.
Besides Jagger and Scorsese, the series’ executive producers include the director’s Boardwalk Empire collaborator Terence Winter and the singer’s Jagged Films co-founder Victoria Pearman, as well as Emma Tillinger Koskoff, Rick Yorn, John Melfi and Allen Coulter.
A photo of Jagger visiting the set of Vinyl in Brooklyn, New York, was posted recently on the singer’s official Facebook page, along with a message revealing that the sixth episode of the series was being filmed.
