Every year the Town of Strafford, VT hosts an amazing local 4th of July event that is really the definition of wholesome family fun. There is a book sale, a 5K race, a parade that has to go around the common twice to make it last longer, games for kids, a community tug of war, and some fundraisers for the Strafford Fire Department. At noon its the annual Fireman's Auction with donated items from the community. Around that same time there will be the annual duck race, where participants purchase plastic ducks to be released into the river. The fastest ducks win prizes in the form of gift certificates to the local Cafe 232, and later in the day there is a chicken BBQ. The price for the chicken dinner is $12. After all that fun, you can attend the Lions club talent show to cap off your day. We hope to see you all there, especially for the the chicken BBQ which is the fire department's largest fundraiser of the year.
