Following a recent Los Angeles Times report claiming that Paul McCartney, The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, The Who and Roger Waters all may be taking part in a new rock festival that month in California, all of those famed artists have posted respective teaser videos to their social media sites featuring snippets of their classic songs and ending with the word “October.”
Last month, the Times revealed that the star-studded event was being organized by Goldenvoice, the promoter behind the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, and was expected to take place October 7 to October 9 at the Coachella grounds in Indio, California. According to the article, Dylan and The Stones would play on October 7; McCartney would perform on October 8 along with Neil Young and his current backing group, Promise of the Real; and The Who and Waters would close things out on October 9.
McCartney’s teaser is set to a live version of The Beatles‘ “I’ve Got a Feeling” and includes a photo of Sir Paul playing his trademark Hofner bass.
The Rolling Stones’ clip shows a vinyl LP featuring the band’s lips-and-tongue logo spinning on a turntable as the group’s tune “All Down the Line” plays.
Dylan’s video features various film clips of the folk-rock legend from the 1960s accompanied by his song “Ballad of a Thin Man.”
The Who’s video includes a montage of footage of the band playing live throughout the years that’s set to the classic tune “My Generation.”
Lastly, Waters’ teaser boasts grainy black-and-white footage of one of his concerts that includes a couple of floating pig-shaped balloons while the studio version Pink Floyd‘s “Brain Damage” plays.
So far, Young is the only one of the aforementioned artists who hasn’t posted an “October” teaser clip yet. However, Neil’s longtime manager Elliot Roberts did talk about the rumored event with the Times, saying, “It’s so special in so many ways, because you won’t get a chance to see a bill like this, perhaps ever again. It’s a show I look forward to more than any show in a long time.”
Official news about the festival, which the media has given the nickname “Oldchella,” is expected soon.
