David Livingston/Getty ImagesThe members of the latest incarnation of Thin Lizzy recently revealed that the band was being reactivated for a series of 2016 and 2017 shows in celebration of the 40th anniversary of the group’s classic album Jailbreak. Now comes the exciting news that Aerosmith‘s Tom Hamilton will be playing bass at the upcoming concerts, most of which will take place in Europe.

“I’m really psyched to be playing these shows with Thin Lizzy during my downtime with Aerosmith this summer,” Hamilton says in a statement. “It’ll be great to rock out to their classic songs onstage.”

The Thin Lizzy lineup also features longtime guitarist Scott Gorham, as well as singer Ricky Warwick, guitarist Damon Johnson and keyboardist Darren Wharton, who also all play with Black Star Riders — a band formed in 2012 by members of the previous Thin Lizzy incarnation to showcase new original material.

When the new Thin Lizzy appearances were first announced, Motorhead‘s Mikky Dee had been lined up to play drums, but he’s had to drop out of the gigs. Instead, Judas Priest‘s Scott Travis will keep the beat for most of the shows, while Europe‘s Ian Haugland will pound the skins at Sweden’s Skogsrojet Festival on August 6.

The other events on Thin Lizzy’s upcoming itinerary include a June 17 concert in Lorely, Germany; a June 18 performance in Bietigheim-Bissingen, Germany; a July 17 appearance in Barcelona, Spain; and a July 23 set at the Ramblin’ Man Fair Festival in Kent, U.K. The band also will take part in the Rock Legends Cruise V, which set sails from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on January 19, 2017, and runs through January 23.
